Dick Watt practiced law in Texas since his admission to the Texas bar in 1972, after completion of both his undergraduate and legal educations at the University of Texas at Austin. His practice emphasized general civil litigation, oil and gas law, and oil and gas litigation, including extensive trial and appellate work. In oil and gas matters, he represented clients in all phases of the upstream and mid-stream exploration, development, and production sectors. Dick was widely regarded as one of the most preeminent oil and gas lawyers in Texas. He was also active in ranching and oil and gas activities.
Aside from his sterling reputation as a lawyer, Dick was also known throughout Texas as a gentleman of the highest order, a devoted family man, and a trusted friend.
